Partner Enablement

Introduction​

PAINTS is the partner link up service of the BMW Group. It is the central contact point for cooperation between BMW departments and external partners. It supports you throughout the entire process of linking up partner companies. It offers services for all business processes, as well as for cross-divisional functions and financial services.

What is the aim of PAINTS?​

PAINTS creates the IT basis to ensure the cooperation between BMW and the partner companies within the scope of their specific commissioning. In particular it is PAINTS' task to harmonize the requirements of the BMW departments with the available IT solutions and the technical boundary conditions of the partner companies. In addition, PAINTS ensures that the BMW compliance requirements are respected to in the case of connections.

How does the process work?​

The starting point is the request for a new partner link up by the BMW department or external partner in our self-service portal MyPAINTS. The basis for the link up is always the concrete commissioning. Then the details of the requirements are discussed to find the right solution for you. In order for PAINTS to be able to do this in the most targeted way possible, it helps us to have your complete details in MyPAINTS. The more information PAINTS already have at this point, the better they can implement the link up.
With the results from the appointment, PAINTS define the necessary IT solutions for the partner and release the solution in MyPAINTS. The approved solutions are then commissioned and provided in the BMW infrastructure. Future changes during the project duration, such as new employees in the project, can also be managed or applied for in MyPAINTS. At the end of the project, PAINTS clarifies whether the provided solutions are still required or whether they can be dismantled.

How to access Connected AI Platform via PAINTS?​

Overview​

In general not much set up is needed to work with Connected AI Platform, since for most of our services access is not granted on networking level. Nevertheless there are a few exceptions, e.g. accessing ORBIT Artifactory at https://packages.orbit.bmwgroup.net requires a firewall rule.

How to get access?​

In order to get access, create a new project role or manage an existing project role in myPAINTS and add "APP-30902 - Connected AI Platform" with Application Instance "Connected AI Platform EMEA Production" to it.
